The White Lion
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants

50 Park Street, Worksop, S80 1HF

Just a stone's throw from Clumber Park sits the increasingly popular White Lion. Here, owners Mark and Diana successfully fuse a traditional pub setting with a smart, laid-back and intimate dining experience. Famous locally for its Cask Marque-accredited ales, modern British fare and classic pub food, The White Lion boasts a regularly changing menu featuring ingredients sourced as locally as possible. There's also an early bird menu and a traditional roast served on Sundays.
Opting for the homemade soup and breaded goat's cheese, we were thoroughly impressed with the presentation and even more so with the expertly balanced flavours - the bar was certainly set high for the main courses. It was met with ease by the equally attractive dishes of pork duo and 28-day-matured rump steak - two new choices that we were told have already proved very popular. Their reputation is certainly well-earned; the juicy steak was cooked beautifully and accompanied by deliciously buttery spinach, while the pork, prepared two different ways, was pleasingly tender and came with flavoursome roasted vegetables and light and creamy champ mash.
The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. Glimpsing the pretty outside seating area on our way out, we made plans to return in summer to enjoy another memorable meal with impeccable service, this time alfresco
