With a well-deserved reputation for excellent fare, fine ales and welcoming rooms, the aptly named Angel is a glowing haven in the heart of picturesque Misson. The food is divine - after a rich and flavourful starter of garlic mushrooms in white wine cream, we moved onto hearty main courses that managed to be exquisite and unpretentious all at once. The 'posh' fish and chips felt nostalgic yet authentic. Wrapped in newspaper and served with the inn's trademark twice-cooked chips, the dish was tasty traditional British fare at its best. Dessert was a cool and fiery paradox formed from an unlikely combination of lemon sorbet infused with chilli and cardamom, which worked to startlingly delicious effect. Indeed it was typical of the Angel, where modern and original meets tried-and-tested quality and locally sourced, fresh ingredients is the root of its philosophy. The results? Heavenly
