A favourite with students and festival-goers, The Mosque Kitchen is Edinburgh’s go-to place for quick, quality meals at unbeatable prices. This cheery restaurant is filled with the heady scent of freshly made curries and – judging by the many patrons happily tucking in during our visit – the food here tastes just as good as its aroma promises. The freshly made dishes on offer include lamb and chicken curry, biryani rice and vegetarian options like comforting tarka dal with rice (£3) and sag aloo (£4). As a chicken curry with one vegetarian dish and rice only costs an incredible £5, not only will your belly be pleasantly full, but so will your wallet – the perfect excuse to try some sweet handmade baklava for dessert. Better yet, proceeds from this restaurant help over 300 children and people in need, bringing a whole new meaning to feel-good food. Outside catering is also available.
