This centrally located bar combines three great settings – a spacious main bar with a lively atmosphere on busy evenings, a conservatory café that’s perfect for morning coffee, and an intimate cellar bar that serves both as an extension to the main bar and as a private function room.

Set in the heart of Edinburgh’s trendy West End, Ryan’s Bar caters for the wide variety of tastes and needs of the city’s visitors and residents. The menu is international and offers everything from tapas and light bites to full ŕ la carte meals. Regular special offers mean you can usually get some nibbles thrown in with the price of a bottle of wine. The bar also screens live sports and is a particularly popular place to watch the rugby.

We sipped on Continental-style beers that were served in their correct glasses, Belgian style, while we waited on our starters – Brie and mango parcels and a plate of bruschetta. Both arrived beautifully presented, accompanied by a crisp side salad. My partner’s Mexican fajitas stole the show in the main course – a spicy stack of sizzling beef with plenty of tortillas and a colourful, generous array of condiments.

The Ryan’s Bar team are friendly and efficient. In fact they are so confident in their ability to deliver, they provide an hourglass on each table – if you don’t get your food within 15 minutes, you get it half price.
