Chapter One

With a dining room that simply exudes warmth, Chapter One is a first choice for diners in the East
Keswick area and beyond. Having been in business since June 2008, Chapter One has already won
plenty of fans, eager to make return visits to sample the wares of chef and owner Steve Collison’s kitchen.

Steve has breathed a new lease of life into the premises, bringing with him the know-how and skill that
only comes from years of experience. With previous posts at such prestigious establishments as Oulton
Hall (where as executive chef he gained two AA rosettes), the Chester Grosvenor and The Dorchester,
Steve has culinary knowledge in spades, gathered over his 20 years in the business.

He makes sure that only the finest ingredients make their way into his kitchen, and uses the local area as his larder, forging strong relationships with the best Yorkshire suppliers. Steve keeps his finger on the pulse of the changing seasons, foraging for the very best that each month has to offer. The result is a selection of modern British fare, simply bursting with flavour.

There is a comprehensive bar menu, a weekly market menuand a fine-dining à la carte selection; there is also a fantastic Sunday lunch menu with two and three-course options.Expect to find anything from the classic flavours of 7oz Bedale fillet steak served with hand-cut chips, a creamed cracked peppercorn sauce and all the trimmings, to the adventurous pan-fried sea bream fillet sat upon a cod and spring onion brandade with ginger snow peas and a delectable sweet and sour chilli sauce. The extensive wine list perfectly complements the menu and offers something for everyone, with ten wines and Champagnes available by the glass.
