Mimosa’s quest to be ‘ever better’ continues with a refined new menu and wine list guaranteed to bring a taste of Italian sunshine to the UK this spring and summer.

Proprietor Robert Kemp, chefs Umberto Cordo and Cosimo Danese and front-of-house manager Antonio Milone have worked hard to create a vibrant but simplified list that includes foodie favourites but also makes room for more fabulous chef’s specials (specialta’ dello chef).

Regular customers will be relieved to know that tried and tested dishes including avocado Mimosa (with crabmeat and prawns), calamari fritti, funghi trifolati (with garlic and tomato) and linguine al branzino (seafood pasta) have been safeguarded. New temptations however include the hot and spicy penne calabrese (with bacon and broccoli), Vesuvio pizza (with pepperoni), gambaretti salmone pizza (with salmon and prawns) and pollo pizzaiola (chicken with capers, oregano, olives and tomatoes in white wine).

And accompanying the fresh new menu is a sparkling wine list that’s definitely an all-Italian job, featuring everything from the delicate and fragrant to the aromatic and fruity, from the intense and oaky to the bright and bubbly.

‘Nearly a year ago I set out to create the kind of restaurant I would most like to eat in, and I have worked hard with the rest of the Mimosa team to develop that vision of a welcoming and efficient restaurant with the freshest and finest food and wine, a great ambience and exemplary service’ says Robert, continuing ‘We’ve enjoyed a lot of success and have developed a very loyal customer base, but that doesn’t stop us continually striving to improve our offering. As our mission statement says, we want to be the best authentic Italian restaurant in the area; offering fresh food cooked by Italian chefs, with a wine list that shows a selection of classic and modern wines from all the wine-making regions of Italy. Our new menu has a simplicity about it which gives our chefs more time to create changing specials and bring in more seafood dishes including lobster, sea bass and swordfish. We have also made the bold move to an all-Italian wine list because we truly believe that Italian wine works best with Italian food.’

Mimosa also has a great value children’s menu for early evening diners (seated by 6.30pm). You can also enjoy two courses from the set menu for £9.95, three courses for £12.95 or pizza, pasta or risotto for just £6.95 (not including chef’s specials) if you dine early.
