Set on the riverbank in Cowbridge, River View Chinese is accessible via a lovely little bridge. Inside, the restaurant is beautifully modern, light and bright. We were greeted and guided upstairs by the owner, who promptly suggested a medium-dry chenin blanc to start. From the wide selection of dishes on the menu, we chose silky smooth tofu in black bean sauce and sizzling prawns in garlic. The overall presentation of dishes was beautiful – my favourite touches were the tiny floral features carved out of potatoes, and the dumplings held in cups of lettuce like delicate Christmas parcels. The meal concluded with a shared pot of green tea – a warming and refreshing finish to a memorable evening. The restaurant’s fantastic cuisine can also be ordered to take away, although I highly recommend eating in for the full River View dining experience.
