They supply the glasses and you supply the fun, with absolutely no corkage charge - Neeshad is Bristol's first BYO balti house. Indian food is famously aromatic, and you won't find a finer fragrance than the one emerging from Neeshad's kitchen, overseen by their executive master chef Laikot Khan, who absolutely insists upon using only the freshest herbs and finest ingredients each and every day.
Here you are promised a delicious, inexpensive menu. Decor is simple and classical, and Indian music plays softly, enhancing your culinary journey. Dishes on the extensive menu, covering styles such as tandoori, balti, biriani, vegetarian and tikka house specialities, are prepared to a high standard. The homemade onion bhajis are perfectly crispy round the edges, while the seekh kebab, made from succulent lamb fillet with Eastern spices and herbs, has a gratifying meatiness with the seasoning adding a pleasingly pungent aroma. Try the king prawn Neeshad delight with its three whopping jumbo king prawns draped in a delicately spiced creamy sauce. Recommended accompaniments are peshawari naan bread lined with a robust almond paste, or biran bhaht, a nutty Akash rice fried with thin caramelised onions. A takeaway and delivery service is available, as well as a party catering service, but for a sit-down dinner that brings India to life, Neeshad is authentic and above all satisfying. On Sundays and Mondays a 'one-price-many-visits' buffet is available, enabling you to sample Neeshad's exotic flavours and kaleidoscopic tastes.
