The celebrated Speech House in the Forest of Dean maintains a time-honoured ambience while offering all the luxuries of a modern hotel – including a superior dining experience. Chef Brent Price sources fresh, regional ingredients to create inspirational dishes. Our exquisite starters – wild mushroom feuillantine and homemade pork terrine – were pretty as a picture and tasted just as superb. The ensuing courses featured a remarkable breadth of flavour. My seared roast lamb with baby ratatouille, parsnip crisps and rosti potato was simply stunning, and the loin of beef was faultless – perfectly complemented by tasty peppercorn sauce and hearty hand-cut chips. For dessert, the tang of the glazed rhubarb was beautifully balanced by velvety ice cream, while the classic creme brulée was sinfully rich. With an outstanding restaurant and 37 bedrooms for overnight visits, The Speech House promises a truly memorable experience.
