This charming eatery’s location makes it perfect for those who want a quick lunch while shopping, but it is an equally relaxing spot if you want a quiet snack in a great people-watching location.
For breakfast there’s a great selection, from bacon and fried eggs in a fresh, floury bap (£3.95) to boiled egg and soldiers (£3.60). At lunchtime, there is a comprehensive range of baguettes, toasties, jacket potatoes, salads and a range of hot meals. There is something here for everyone’s taste; for example, the vegan salad with avocado, tomatoes, olives, artichokes and a medley of other fresh and wholesome flavours. The vegetarian chilli (£8.25) is excellent value for money and is served with rice, Greek yoghurt, cheese, avocado, mixed leaves and crisp tortilla chips – spicy and tasty in equal measure. There are many vegan options, including a vegan salad (£6.95) and now more glutenfree options.
Cakes and pastries are equally tempting – the hot chocolate muffin is served with chocolate sauce and ice cream (£3.75), and the pancake with bananas and ice cream is accompanied by hot fudge sauce (£4.20). Next time you’re passing, give the plan café bar a try; it may just become your regular haunt.
