Seashore Grill & Café Bar is situated on the outskirts of Cardiff in Swanbridge, accessed via a country lane with views across the Bristol Channel. Established five years ago by Mr. Gordon Hadfield, it is often used by the residents of the adjacent private caravan parks but is also open to the public. Seashore serves hearty all-day breakfasts, lunches and a traditional three-course Sunday lunch. But don't forget about the bar, where you can enjoy drinks as well as nibbles.

The grill menu is simple and tasty, offering home-cooked food like gammon, lamb and fish, all reasonably priced. For lunch my friend and I ordered pea and ham soup and the cranberry and pork paté. Both starters (£2.25 each) were excellent and accompanied by fresh, crusty bread.

For the main course you can choose from the daily specials board or the regular menu. We chose lamb chops - extremely tender and served with peas, chips and a mint gravy (£4.75); and traditional faggots and peas with mashed potato and onion gravy (£4.25). Both meals were tasty and filling, so much so that we couldn't even entertain the notion of dessert, but we did finish with cappuccino and amaretto biscuits. We both really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the Café bar and found the coastal location perfect for a thoughtful breakfast or lunch - a perfect place for real comfort food.
