Hovering subtly at the top of Park Street is one of Bristol's hidden gems. Vincenzo's Pizza House has been providing customers with an authentic Italian dining experience for nearly 40 years and, always family run, the restaurant is now in the capable hands of brothers Joe and Raffaele Ricci.
Entering Vincenzo's is like stepping through the doors of a Tuscan eatery, walls adorned with colourful postcards and carafes hanging from the cosy low ceilings. The menu is vast, incorporating many firm favourites, from classic antipasti to spaghetti carbonara. I opted for antipasto misto to start and the platter that arrived was outstanding - Parma ham, chorizo, salami and smoked pork were covering a whole ball of creamy buffalo mozzarella. The dish was accompanied by a delicious hunk of fresh homemade bread. To follow on from this wonderful rustic starter, I chose the filletto al pepe verde - a delicate combination of fillet steak, spicy peppercorns and a rich brandy-infused cream. Despite the generous portions, I couldn't resist dessert and opted for a luxurious amaretto tart. With subtle hints of the liqueur, this creamy treat was a perfect end to the meal.
Vincenzo's oozes authenticity and quality, and, with weekly specials such as a three-course meal for only £13.50 from 5pm until 7pm and a single course for £4.50 at lunchtimes, this is a little taste of Italy that can be savoured at any time without breaking the bank.
