For more than 25 years, Bottelino's has been serving up top quality Italian food in and around Bristol and Bath. Still a family affair, it's run by the Botta brothers, sons of the original owner. Standards today are as exacting as they were in the early days, with great care taken over the produce used, much of which is sourced from Italy. And there's still that magic ingredient, tradition, ensuring a real taste of Italy a little closer to home.
All this attention to detail hasn't gone unnoticed, either by the ever-growing band of customers or indeed the restaurant trade. Bottelino's have recently scooped two of the UK's major food industry awards at London's fashionable Royal Lancaster Hotel in Hyde Park, presented by the Pizza, Pasta and Italian Food industry.
'Our late father Guiseppe Botta would have been so proud' said Mike Botta, as he received top awards on behalf of all the directors and staff of Bristol's busiest food group. The Bedminster and Nailsea restaurants were chosen to represent the whole group in this competition and these national awards show just how exacting are Bottelino's quality standards in food, service and staff training.
Bottelino's in Bedminster, which opened in the spring of 2006, was awarded 'Pizza Restaurant of the Year 2006' in a thrilling competition in which independent restaurants from across the UK battled it out for this prestigious trophy with some of the biggest names in the business.
Next it was Bottelino's at Nailsea. Their top Chef Lucio Cerullo won 'Pasta Chef of the Year 2006', and as Lucio's name suggests, 'he is one of our many Italian born and trained top chefs, skilled in cooking the highest quality traditional Italian food - just like our Mama still makes', said Michael and added, 'now were looking forward to doing even better next year'.
Most items on the menu are available to take away. And if you have time, from January 2007, you can eat in and enjoy a lunchtime pizza or pasta for just £4.95. There's also a decent wine list, mostly favouring Italian wines, but including some from South America, Australia and Europe as well.
