Sunny beaches, a tourist hub and a melting pot of cultures and cuisines, Brighton and Goa have more in common than you would think, which is probably why Goa Spice of Life is so at home in this bustling coastal city. Serving up an abundance of aromatic delicacies to tourists and locals for over ten years, this much-loved restaurant has a cult following. It is also the only speciality Goan restaurant in Brighton, making it stand out from other Indian eateries in the area.

Goan gastronomy is an exotic and flavoursome affair. Goa was once a Portuguese colony so the food is flavoured with the influence of The Algarve. Add to this the profusion of local spices, coconut and, of course, the bounty of the seas and you have a cuisine worth exploring, and there is no better place to do this than Goa Spice of Life. The menu offers all the key elements of this exciting fare to really give you a taste of the essence of Goa. Portuguese-influenced peri-peri has a kick of chilli and is served with Indian cheese and coriander; xacuti dishes are rich with roasted spices and coconut milk, and balchao dishes are cooked with a shrimp preserve, steeped with rum and Goan spices. Indian restaurant favourite vindaloo hails from Goa, another dish of Portuguese origin, and the Spice of Life version is fiery with fresh chillies and the tang of vinegar wine. All dishes come in meat, chicken, vegetable, prawn and king prawn varieties, so you can suit each dish to your taste. Goan cooking is famous for its fish dishes, so keep an eye out for the seasonal specials.

Goa Spice of Life is conveniently located on Richmond Parade. Chef and host Mohammed Asaduzzaman and chef Atiqur Raman make diners welcome, assisting with menu choices if needed. Mohammed welcomes students to the restaurant and provides a range of deals to help the impoverished student enjoy a great meal, and ensures everyone adds a little spice to their life.
