Blue Groove in Croyde, North Devon, oozes unique personality and refuses to be put in a box. Take that classic beachy style and add a dose of sophistication, take a cosmopolitan feel and place it among North Devon charm, take a burger and make it gourmet, find a friendly bunch of waiting staff that genuinely enjoy their work, and throw in some unmissable fresh fish and seafood, and you're some way to working out what this caf', restaurant and bar has to offer. With its lively atmosphere, groups of friends fit right in, yet a sense of intimacy manages to prevail, making Blue Groove perfect for couples too. Original artwork and murals adorn the walls, and a seasonal menu packed with timeless classics caters for all, including families with children. The food here is homemade and locally sourced as much as possible ' their homemade Exmoor beef burger, for example, also comes in a homemade wholemeal bap, with perfectly cooked hand-cut chunky chips and homemade spicy ketchup. The menu offers the best picks from around the world ' Greek meze, Spanish tapas, Thai chicken, Peking duck, Mexican pancakes, steaks and, most temptingly, wonderfully fresh fish. This is one of the only places in Croyde to enjoy seafood this fresh. Everyone is catered for ' there's a selection of speciality salads, a good range of vegetarian options, a kids' menu, separate breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, and a great range of espresso coffees and cocktails. The finer touches really do make all the difference, and it feels great to eat some good, authentic food, served by incredibly friendly staff in an atmosphere that is genuine, talkative, easy going and very contagious. A chilled-out place to eat, relax and maybe enjoy a few beers, it's just so easy to spend lots of quality time here. Blue Groove takes inspiration from the best bars, restaurants and caf's around the world; but it is here, in this picturesque North Devon village, that you can spend the day walking the Devon hills and coastal paths, surfing some of the best waves in the UK, or just lazing on the beach. Surely life doesn't get much better.
