Palatino is Go

Since opening his very first restaurant back in 2009, Stevie Parle has wowed with his exceptional dining spaces. Now, the former Young Chef of the Year has opened his fifth restaurant, Palatino, which epitomises Stevie’s belief that dining out isn’t just about the food, but the whole experience.

Stevie first visited Rome at the age of 17 with a handful of recommendations from his peers. Palatino is a casual venue named after one of the seven ancient hills of Rome and is his nod to the food and mood of the city. The pared-back yet elegant interior ensures the ambience is as comforting as the food and service. A large communal table and formal booths allow Palatino to move seamlessly from a buzzing daytime eatery to a more formal, but no less vibrant, restaurant come evening.

Palatino is Go

The menu is diverse, incorporating a range of creations based on ancient Roman recipes and more contemporary treats. Start your feast with fried sage leaves, and artichoke Judea. Follow with the chicken, pancetta and pistachio meatballs with polenta, or the native lobster with chilli and fennel. For dessert, we recommend you go for the heavenly chocolate cake with pistachio and honeycomb, or the delightful quince, almond and rosemary tart – an inspired flavour combination. For diners who are pressed for time, why not order from the Presto Menu, priced at just £15 for two courses or £19 for three?

The all-Italian wine list is discovery-led and is divided into unico (unique), classico (classic) and special (special), and all wines are available by the glass. Linger a little longer with a cocktail from the dazzling selection. We urge you to sip the refreshing house spritz – a blend of Cynar, sour cherry and pine needle with Merchant’s floral tonic.

Palatino is set to be a winner, so why not go and see for yourself?

Palatino, 71 Central Street, EC1V 8AB; 020 3481 5300.

Joele feels Hermione Granger’s pain of having a strange name and longs for people to be able to pronounce her name correctly (like guacamole!). Never one to take the lift, she still gets out of breath climbing the three flights of stairs to the office and is a lover of bookshops, vegetarian food and flavoured tea.
