Coventry Road, Narborough, Leicestershire LE19 2GN

Situated in the village of Narborough just 6 miles from the charming and historic city of Leicester, The Dovecote is a true highlight of Leicestershire’s dining scene, boasting a warmth and homeliness you’d find difficult to match anywhere else in the region.

Epitomising everything that makes British pubs so special whilst also offering something a little different to your traditional establishment, whether you’re after a welcoming place to enjoy a relaxed pint with all of your mates, or you wish to bring along the entire family for an unrivalled Sunday lunch they will never forget, nothing about The Dovecote will disappoint.

Built in the 1990s using reclaimed timber, this beautiful pub and restaurant is just brimming with character and atmosphere, and after a full refurbishment in February 2018, there’s never been a better time to visit than now. From the excellent service you’ll receive as soon walk through the doors to the attention to detail evident in every plate that comes out of the kitchen, if you’ve never had the pleasure of spending a few hours within these walls, make sure you change that in the coming months.

Known as the place to go for the best coffee in Narborough, no matter if you’re visiting at morning, noon, or night, you’ll be equally delighted with the selection of enticing homemade treats on offer, and this summer, The Dovecote’s new lunch and dinner menus will have you hurrying back again and again.

At lunchtime, why not order their legendary giant Yorkshire pudding filled with roast meat of the day, seasonal vegetables and rosemary potatoes and topped with rich wine gravy from their new summer lunch menu!? Alternatively, choose from an exciting range of pizzas including chicken fajita and Peking duck toppings, or opt for one of their many vegetarian options such as their grilled halloumi burger, spicy vegetable tagine, aubergine and lentil curry, or butternut and red onion quiche. Finish your feast with rich Italian coffee and your choice of dessert including favourites such as chocolate fudge cake, Cherry Bakewell sundae, white chocolate and raspberry cookie sundae, or lemon crunch cheesecake, and you’ll never want to lunch anywhere else again.

If you’re visiting later in the day, the new summer dinner menu boasts house specialities and a steaks and grills selection that will have you salivating. Try the manager’s favourite, Jollof chicken, a dish of aromatic grilled chicken in an incredible tomato, peanut and Scotch Bonnet pepper sauce served with rice, salad, and a flatbread, or the chef’s favourite, Duo of Lamb, a dish of lamb rump with lamb shoulder pie, served with fondant potato, vegetables, and a rich lamb jus. Other house specialities include chicken katsu curry, beef bourguignon, chicken tikka shashik, and steak and ale pie.

Their steak and grills section is truly special. Using carefully chosen Blackgate Signature beef which is matured for 28 days, their steaks are of the highest possible quality and are full of natural flavour, all served with house chips, sautéed mushrooms and seasoned tomato. And for the non-meat-eaters out there, try the restaurant’s halloumi “fish” and chips, comprised of battered halloumi served with garden peas and sweet chilli dip.

When the weather is good, sit outside, order one of The Dovecote’s new deli boards to share between friends and savour a glass of Prosecco on the patio while the little ones make the most of their summers off on the pub’s bouncy castle. If you’re after a more memorable night out, the first Thursday of every month offers you the chance to enjoy an incredible three-course feast while you’re entertained all night by some of the best tribute acts the region has to offer. Upcoming acts include a Gary Barlow tribute on 5th September, a Kylie tribute on 3rd October, and a Tina Turner tribute on 7th November.
