A quintessentially British event celebrating everything that makes summertime in this beautiful country of ours so special, August Bank Holiday weekend just wouldn’t be the same without the renowned annual foodie gathering which is River Cottage Festival – and this year promises to be the finest one yet.
Celebrating 20 years of River Cottage, multi-award-winning food writer, cook, television personality and campaigner on food and environmental issues Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall can’t wait to throw open the farm gates to River Cottage HQ from the 24th to the 25th of August and welcome foodies from across the country to this postcard-perfect setting for two unforgettable, fun-filled days jam-packed with fantastic food, lively music, and a whole host of familiar faces.
Arguably Britain’s best food festival, if this sounds like something you don’t want to miss out on this year, you’re in luck. Joining forces with River Cottage HQ, here at Fed Up & Drunk we’d like to offer you and your family the exciting chance to win two weekend tickets to the festival (kids under 16 go free). Including entry to the festival for both Saturday and Sunday, camping for 3 nights from Friday 23rd August to Monday 26th August, and on-site parking, two weekend tickets are usually priced at £190 but they could both be yours just by filling in your details in the form at the bottom of this page.

The lucky winners won’t want to miss out on the food demonstrations taking place at The Fire Pit this year. Hosted by River Cottage author and tutor, Steven Lamb, food is central to life at River Cottage, and along with food writer Valentine Warner, chef and food writer Claire Thomson, River Café’s Joe Trivelli, and River Cottage contributor favourites like John Wright, Rachel de Thample, and Naomi Devlin, there’s plenty on the plate to dig into.
Other food-focused events include River Cottage’s Long Table Lunch in the 18th-century threshing barn, featuring a 2-course menu of dishes made using fresh, homegrown ingredients from the kitchen garden, and the evening Feasts Over Fire, led by guest chefs including the incredible Welsh Persian chef Leyli Joon & Co and the brilliant team from Roth Bar & Grill. There will also be an impressive range of enticing street food options as River Cottage joins forces with exceptional local producers including Thali Café, Good Game and Assembelly.
With a particular focus on conservation, sustainability, and well-being, this year’s incredible guests include television personalities Anita Rani, who co-presents the recent BBC1 series War On Plastics with Hugh, and Steph McGovern, who will be talking with Hugh about health and well-being and their upcoming new series about the subject that she and Hugh will be filming over the summer. Also in attendance will be geneticist, author and BBC presenter recently seen on Hugh’s Fat Fight Giles Yeo, who will be joining Hugh and Steph to address the issue of how we can all look after ourselves better.
The festival gigs are also back by popular demand, and this year’s line-up is the most exciting yet. Entertaining the festival goers from lunchtime until after dark, live entertainment at this year’s event include two headlining DJ sets from Belle & Sebastian’s Richard Colburn and Happy Monday’s Bez and a curated list of diverse talent including Honeyfeet, The Luck and Rum Buffalo.
The festival’s Little Theatre ensures there will be plenty to keep the kids entertained, from the Tallulah Swirls Puppet Theatre and puppet making workshops to circus performance and skills and storytelling and musical sessions. Elsewhere they can also get stuck into bushcraft, felting, art, forest skills, woodcraft and headdress making. There are also plenty of workshops for the adults, like willow making, watercolour botanicals, paper art and pottery, as well as massage, yoga classes, and reiki treatements.
