16 Marine Parade, Paignton, TQ3 2NU

Occupying a prime spot overlooking Preston beach, with spectacular sea views stretching from Torquay across to Berry Head, this charming tearoom boasts one of the most impressive backdrops in the English Riviera. After marvelling at the view we took in the tranquil atmosphere and quaint, cosy surrounds complete with bunting and quirky vintage accessories. We sipped glasses of French malbec as we tucked into plates of tender chicken breast in creamy white wine and tarragon sauce, and rich lamb’s liver with bacon and onions. Unable to resist the tempting array of homemade sweets on offer, we followed with sumptuous limoncello and raspberry trifle and mouth-watering vegan chocolate fudge cake. Everything we tasted was utterly sublime and we couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome by our warm, friendly hosts. We’ll certainly be back to treat ourselves to cream tea or perhaps a tasty Sunday lunch – I can think of no better place to sit and watch the world go by.
