Our Favourties: Wild Rabbit

Set in the tranquil village of Kingham in the Cotswolds, The Wild Rabbit is a splendid spot that offers a welcoming bar and more formal dining room, as well as 12 gorgeous bedrooms, The Beehive Cottage and two self-catered cottages in the village.

What to eat
The Wild Rabbit prides itself on its tip-top high-quality, seasonal food. The lovely restaurant combines traditional British country dining with modern touches – there’s an open kitchen and an eye-catching charcuterie counter too. Executive chef Tim Allen recently won a Michelin star for his delicious, seasonal dishes that celebrate local produce. Highlights from the à la carte menu include the Daylesford organic lamb with Provençal flavours, new season courgettes and flowers, and Cornish lemon sole with green asparagus, young leeks and smoked eel butter.

What to drink
Award-winning sommelier Marcin Oziebly has joined the team at The Wild Rabbit. His carefully crafted wine list has grown to feature over 100 handpicked wines from mostly artisan, family owned wineries. You’ll only find the best of the bunch here. Take your tipple to the traditional bar, where log fires and worn leather armchairs create a cosy bolthole in winter, while in sunny months, there’s no better place to relax and enjoy views of the church than under a parasol at an outside table.

Top tip
The restaurant’s sister Daylesford Farm is one of the most sustainable farms in the UK, not to mention home to The Daylesford Cookery School. Book yourself on to one of the imaginative courses and sharpen your skills – from fish suppers and seasonal dinner parties to bread making and nose-to-tail butchery, you’ll find something that takes your fancy.

Joele Forrester

Joele feels Hermione Granger’s pain of having a strange name and longs for people to be able to pronounce her name correctly (like guacamole!). Never one to take the lift, she still gets out of breath climbing the three flights of stairs to the office and is a lover of bookshops, vegetarian food and flavoured tea.
