Pier eight - header

In November last year The Lowry restaurant underwent a £3million makeover, transforming it into Pier 8. Far from Lowry’s industrial Manchester, this modern restaurant brings something new to Salford Quays while not losing sight of its history. Hanging from the ceiling is a huge, white tree with leaves made from cotton, which pays homage to the docks being at the centre of the cotton shipping industry.

Pier 8 Restaurant and Bar offers fine modern British fare in a setting that’s perfect for those hoping to sit back and relax before the theatre. Diners get to watch the chefs at work in the newly designed open kitchen.

While enjoying an exquisite view over the quays, diners can choose from two new menus. The more casual bar menu boasts classics like fish and chips and club sandwiches, which are great for a quick fix before a show.

Alternatively, order from the impressive dinner menu, which offers plenty of variety. Choose from the likes of pan-fried duck breast with fondant potato, pak choi, blackcurrants and duck sauce, and seasonal summer risotto with herbs, courgette, morels and hazelnut crumb. Yummy British food takes centre stage here, though the talented kitchen team always takes inspiration from around the world.

For something a little different, why not try the stunning (it looks too good to eat) afternoon tea? Nibble cucumber sandwiches, devour fresh patisserie and wash it all down with a hot brew, or, if you’re feeling fancy, a glass of bubbly for a sense of occasion.

Put on your Sunday best and head down to Pier 8 for an impressive roast with Yorkshire puds piled high.

So sit back and enjoy the show, whether it’s a quick pre-theatre bite to eat or a leisurely dinner, Pier 8 is sure to entertain you with its fine food and comfortable atmosphere.
