Instagram is awash with fine dining food photography. It’s beautiful to look at and, even if we can’t afford to dine at a Michelin starred establishement, we can gaze longingly at our screens. However, one anonymous Instagrammer is having a little fun with our visual obsession with haute cuisine. The aptly named Chef Jacques Lamerde takes American junk food and assembles it to appear like high-end fine dining cuisine, creating dishes from the likes of Spongebob Squarepants spaghetti and Twinkies.

This will definitely appeal to anyone who has ever put a Snickers bar in the fridge and then cut it into slices to eat. (If you haven’t, you should really give it a go.) The mysterious chef has already got the attention of nearly 30,000 followers and has only been posting since February.

While we don’t know much about this creative culinary whizz, he claims to cook from the heart, be real and take inspiration from nature – cue ‘Bugs on a stick’, so called because the Cheeze Whiz celery is the stick and the craisins are the bugs.

Here is some of his finest work to date…

1. ‘Bugs on a stick’ is finished with celery soda caviar, Graham Cracker soil and kale shreds:

3. Tartar of hand-cut Hot Rod, egg yolk and Doritos soil (intense pickle flavour):

4. Jimmy Dean sausage with canned spring veg, French’s, Fritos Hoops and pistachio soil with palate cleansing Lake Michigan water with nutritional yeast rim:

5. Microwaved spicy beef n’ bean burrito, beef jerky, Wishbone Caesar Crema and lemon-lime Gatorade spheres for a hit of acidity and zesty cheese Dorito soil:

6. Dunkin Munchkins, Oreo birthday cake soil, Snickers haché, Shamrock Shake fluid gel with Moose Tracks ice cream quenelle:

7. Duo of Pogos with marble Cheeze slices, honey ham rosettes, Spongebob Squarepants zoodles and mustard tears:

8. French vanilla pannacotta, Cinnamon Toast Crunch sand, Werther’s Originals and some hand-torn Twinkies:

9. Raspberry Pop Tart parfait with Grape Crush scented gel, vanilla Snack Pack and enhanced with Mike and Ikes, Cry Babies and fruity Mentos:
