Step one foot inside Poppy Red and you will realise immediately that you have entered somewhere that little bit special. The whole ethos of this bar and restaurant is 'style' and it is clear from the contemporary but subtle decor, attentive staff and laidback charm that paying homage to the beautiful people is what this place is all about. When you visit (and you should) make sure you take this cool vibe to heart. Sit back and relax on the leather sofas or with friends in an intimate booth, listen to the chilled music and sample the array of quality dishes available from the international menu. You will be spoilt for choice from the delicious mix of salads, burgers, melts, wraps and classics on offer at Poppy Red. Particular favourites are the homemade chilli fishcakes or panco chicken with sweet chilli dipping sauce, or if you are looking for something more substantial, tuck into the huge New York 8oz beef burger served with salad and perfect, piping hot, chunky chips. Desserts include a welcome twist on the traditional. Bread and butter pudding made using chocolate and vanilla brioche with homemade dark chocolate sauce and a decadent jug of fresh cream is wonderful. And the classic creme brul'e (one of Poppy Red's signature dishes) is like diving into a pool of creamy heaven. What is abundantly clear here is that the food is not just an optional extra ' it is an integral part of the atmosphere and a welcome one too. So if you're looking for somewhere funky to indulge in good food, good music and an oh so chilled out vibe, then Poppy Red is for you.
