Top-quality hospitality is The Orange Tree Inn’s stock in trade. This warm and welcoming pub is a true all-rounder, delivering a comprehensive selection of well-kept ales and ciders, a range of satisfying British and Continental cuisine, a wonderfully friendly atmosphere and year-round entertainment.

The bar at The Orange Tree Inn is perhaps the best-stocked in the region. Eight real ales are always on tap without fail; and proper West Country ciders are stored in a cooled cellar, preserving their scrumptiousness. The food is predominantly locally sourced and there’s a lot to choose from – meat from Chapman’s butchers, bread from Days bakers and fresh fish from Dean ‘the fish man’. My starter of Chapman’s paté of the week, served with golden toast, was full-flavoured and plentiful. Deciding on mains was hard, but I eventually plumped for the chicken, leek and bacon pie with a rich white sauce – the pastry was light, the filling tasty and hearty. Sunday lunches, I hear, are worth their salt too.

Dogs, children and muddy boots are all welcome and add to the family-friendly atmosphere. Functions can comfortably be catered for in one of the pub’s three bars, and buffets are provided in addition to the regular menus. You could hardly do better than making a trip to The Orange Tree Inn.
