The Crooked Billet at Ham Green, Kingswood, an 18th-century coaching inn between Aylesbury and Bicester, offers travellers heading north and south along the A41 a taste of locally produced fare.

The bar area, featuring low beamed ceilings and a magnificent open fireplace is the venue for relaxing with drinks and light snacks. Choose from soups, home made using locally grown vegetables, sandwiches formed from home-made breads, and juicy burgers. The candlelit dining area, decorated with historic prints and featuring natural pine tables, is the ideal retreat for sampling the extensive restaurant menu. Starters include grilled goat’s cheese, home-made pâtés and Cornish mussels, and take advantage of seasonal produce. Scottish steaks, fresh fish and exotic steaks, all accompanied by fresh vegetables, are among main course options lovingly created with meticulous attention to detail. Desserts include warming British classics such as c rumble and bread and butter pudding. Choose from a pleasing list of New World and European wines to complete a truly indulgent meal.

Extensive gardens to the rear feature a decked seating area, rolling lawns and a pergola used for wedding celebrations, business and family parties. An inn marquee is also available for that special occasion. A spacious function room seating up to 100 guests is used for the inn’s infamous traditional Sunday carvery lunches.
